Those of few nature lovers, with a hunger to explore the divinity embedded in it, find it painful to be a witness to the wounds inflicted on it in the development path, we have traversed. Some wounds get healed with time, others not, depending upon the magnitude and type of damage. Nature, however, is quite resilient naturally.
More is the appreciation of its existence, more effervesce we dive deeper.
Nature, in fact, has had a special significance in the well-being of human beings since time immemorial. Indian seers articulated its importance and vouched for its protection and sustenance for our survival. The Vedic scriptures, for example, are full of descriptions, particularly the three components of water, air, and plants. The other components also found prominence in the nourishment of human life, through references to the protection of air, water, flora, ozone layer, land, space, and anti-pollution elements. Their protection and conservation, through appropriate rituals performed in ancient daily life, have been described and explained in detail.
This importance was lost with the dilution of our bond with nature, as we sought these benefits and solutions to other problems in a human-engineered system over time. The rituals, performed with the impeccable significance on nature, were not passed on as the rich legacy. This caused not just ignorance towards nature’s importance in life’s sustenance but also perpetrated irreversible damage to it in endless exploitation.
The results, now as we observe, are obvious. Precious time is already lost in attaining the lost wisdom. The path traversed in this journey has taken us far too distant from achieving the benefits we intended to seek. The costs and stakes are high, but failure to correct will wreak still more damage and exorbitant price to our survival. Let’s reconnect with it, wherever and whichever path we traverse in this journey, to understand, nurture and appreciate its divine blessings
Let’s dive deeper into its beauty to get the divine blessings.
